Giving an injection

When giving an injection, make sure to allow sufficient time for the skin to dry after cleaning with alcohol. If the skin isn’t dry when you inject the drug, the patient may feel a sting from the alcohol. Or, the moisture may cause the syringe tip to slide and possibly lacerate the skin.
