Giving sublingual, buccal, and translingual drugs

When a patient takes a sublingual or buccal drug, inspect his oral mucosa for irritation caused by continuous buccal administration. Remind him to alternate drug placement sites and to take sublingual or buccal tablets after he has taken all other oral drugs.
